Retail Store Manager

Batch Nashville

Nashville, TN

We are looking for a retail rockstar, a charismatic leader with exceptional service and sales skills to be our Retail Store Manager. You will drive the growth of Batch retail with direct support from the founding team. You will develop a customer-centric environment and share your passion for Nashville goods, food, and the people who pour their passion into making them. You’re a solid fit for this if you are passionate about people management and recognize that getting the best from your teams requires leading by example, active coaching and investing in their development. We’re looking for someone who has a practical sensibility when it comes to the customer journey and excels in data-driven decision making.

What you’ll do:

  • Leadership & People Management
    • Understand and communicate Batch’s values and brand to customers and staff
    • Manage daily scheduling to cover all store shifts, as well as time off and payroll matters for all store associates
    • Lead retail team members toward financial and customer experience goals
    • Continually recruit, train and develop talented individuals
    • Provide initial and frequent ongoing training and development for all team members
    • Lead by example; train, and guide staff on styling, selling and service skills, driving them to create enriching customer experiences and exceed sales targets
  • Operational Excellence
    • Develop, execute, and continuously improve all retail activities to ensure the store exceeds financial and customer experience targets and maintains brand consistency
    • Recognize and motivate employees to build loyal customer and vendor relationships
    • Work with Nashville Farmers Market staff for day-to-day questions and concerns
    • Protect company assets and minimize loss by ensuring all store standards and operating procedures are met including: workplace safety, risk management, merchandise management, and loss prevention.
    • Ensure accurate inventory levels at all times
    • Achieve quick turn and high gross margin of inventory
  • Drive the Business & Deliver Results
    • Coordinate weekly store promotions (Meet the Maker) and events with Market House businesses
    • Manage store budget in a way that optimizes sales and controls costs and achieves budget goals
    • Implement, maintain and improve systems to keep the store functioning efficiently
    • Develop and execute strategy to drive sales and build customer loyalty through store programs including: networking, classes and events, and community outreach.
    • Comply with all local labor laws and regulations (OSHA, etc.)
  • Deliver the Customer Experience
    • Ensure all product is on the floor and priced correctly
    • Maintain outstanding store condition and visual merchandising standards
    • Create an engaging customer experience by refreshing store look every 6 weeks while following current holiday/seasonal theme
    • Customize the store for our customer demographic and develop & maintain productive customer relationships
    • Demonstrate a strong use of selling skills and an ability to drive personal sales, building store clientele
    • Have a thorough understanding and use of the technology tools that support the customer experience

What you need:

  • 3+ years of experience in a high volume, customer-driven retail environment.
  • A passion for championing the work of the local maker
  • A high level of customer service that creates deep customer loyalty
  • Ability to solve problems by evaluating all the information at hand and then determining a solution that aligns with Batch’s long-term goals
  • Ability to document processes and procedures

A bonus if you have

  • Fluency in Salesforce preferred
  • Fluency in Shopify and Shopify POS preferred
  • Fluency in ShipStation preferred
  • Must be able to lift at least 50lb
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience

Retail Associate

Batch Nashville is seeking part-time sales associates to work on weekends in our award-winning Nashville Farmers' Market shop. 
$13/hour Part-time 15-20 hours/week
This position is open now and candidates must be available weekends.
The ideal candidate for this role will bring these qualities and experiences:
• A knowledge and love of Nashville and locally made goods 
• Flexible schedule, ability to work consistent weekend shifts
• Be available to work on both weekdays and weekends
• Strong work ethic, no task is too small or insignificant
• Ability to work in a team setting
• Effective communicator with customers and coworkers
• Personable, positive, passionate demeanor that seeks to warmly engage customers with about being annoying
• Demonstrate outstanding customer service and selling skills
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Maintain the sales floor, back of the house inventory, gift wrap and point of sale
• Provide product and brand information to customers
• Approach tasks with a "Can-do" mentality and entrepreneurial spirit
• Ability to manage time and tasks effectively without supervision
• Approach customer service with a focus on building relationships with customers and making their lives better
• Assist in Operational Tasks, including Visual Merchandising/Store Presentation
• Meet and listen to customers, ask questions and attend to shoppers' needs
• Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality
